Baltimore
County
Encircling Baltimore City, Baltimore County offers numerous opportunities for every lifestyle.
Nature lovers can enjoy the 100+ miles of hiking trails that surround Gunpowder Falls State Park. To the west are the biking trails of Patapsco Valley State Park and you can view the marvels of the Soldier’s Delight Natural Environment Area, a remnant of lost prairie.
Anglers can charter a boat where they can go in search of the Chesapeake Bay’s striped bass (locally called “rockfish”). And of course, there’s the Bay’s famous blue crab, steamed to perfection in local restaurants.
Towson, the county seat, has grown from a sleepy little town in the 1950’s to a bustling mini metropolis today boasting a wide range of shops and restaurants and entertainment.
Just beyond Towson there are nearly 150 Thoroughbred horse farms including Sagamore, the one-time home of the legendary Native Dancer.
During the summer you can enjoy outdoor concerts of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at Oregon Ridge State Park.
And if shopping is what you like, there’s Owings Mills Mall and the Towson Town Mall.
And finally, there’s the Maryland State Fair in Timonium on a 100 acre parcel that includes a race track, grandstand and numerous other buildings.
There’s a little something for everyone in Baltimore County.
