Open Space! This, in 2 words, describes Carroll County.
Located north of Howard County and bordering Pennsylvania, Carroll County offers some impressive scenery plus historic sites that make for an unforgettable escape.
235 year old Westminster, located in the center of the county, features antique stores lining the streets and walking tours of the town take you past gorgeous churches, fine old homes and even a “haunted” restaurant.
North of the city sits Western Maryland College, the summer training camp of the 2000 Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens.
The Carroll County Farm Museum is home to the annual Maryland Wine Festival. The Museum is also home to a restored 19th century farmhouse with antiques and age-old craft demonstrations. There’s also a General Store, gardens and you can relax by the pond.
But the countryside’s the thing. There’s 300-acre Piney Run Park with its hiking trails and rental boats. There are half dozen golf courses and lots of rivers and lakes for the fishermen, including trout filled Morgan Run. There’s the six-acre spring-fed Cascade Lake featuring water slides and floating rafts. Carroll County’s rural roads offer scenic bicycling.
Whether you’re looking for history, rustic scenes or just plain relaxation, Carroll County’s the place for you.
